Lipstick Conspiracy CD Release Party
My friends of the Lipstick Conspiracy held a party early last evening to celebrate the release of their new CD Don't Tell A Soul. They held this at Martuni's, an agreeable piano bar at the intersection of Valencia and Market St.

The place is intimate, as they say, and they somehow managed to fit their band setup in the back room, along with their catering trays and numerous fans. I arrived in time for the second set, and danced as best I could without obstructing others or knocking them over.

This was the second time out for their new drummer Emme. She plays well and looks stunning.  So did Tori, Marilyn, Sarafina, and Shawna - they were on top of the world.

The Lipstickers often frequent Martuni's after their practice sessions, and the staff did a magnificent job helping put on the party. One to remember.

Jamie's Blinky Lipstick
I am notorious for crackpot inventions. Things like video periscopes for looking over the SUV in front of your car in traffic to a remote controlled mechanism for squirting water on the cat when it meows to be let in at the outside bedroom door at 3AM.

I am particularly notorious for LED jewelry. I have a class I teach middle school girls on how to make your own LED earrings, pins, rings, & bracelets.

I could not resist making some lipstick units for my pals in The Lipstick Conspiracy.

The unit on the left is from a Max Factor lipstick case with a TireFly inserted inside. The cap fits right over the top. TireFlys are rotation-activated LED blinkers that are supposed to be attached to the valve stems of tires to "style up your ride". I found mine at Radio Shack.

The unit on the right is cheap, clear lipstick case I bought at Walgreens for a dollar. I put a blinky magnetic earring in where the lipstick usually goes. You can even glue the magnet to the bottom and then pull the unit out to change batteries.

The next trick is to figure out how to make clear or slightly tinted plastic lipstick wedges to put on top of the blinker. A slant-cut lucite cylinder perhaps? Or maybe real translucent lipstick? Then its on to figuring out how to make a little antenna pop up so a Conspirator can contact headquarters!

Eve's First Friday Out
Lisah, Sara, Stephanie Marie, Zadett, Eve, and yours truly turned out for first of Eve's Friday night out events two days ago. We assembled at Eve's transformation apartment on the second floor of an elegant old building on the corner of Geary and Polk Streets.

We enjoyed drinks, snacks, and girl talk as well as a view of the assembling nightlife scene on Polk Street. The neighborhood has changed from heavily gay and tranny into more of a mixed crowd in recent years, presenting a diverse spectacle as the night goes on.

Shortly before 11:00 PM, our gang walks the block down Polk Street towards Post Street and Diva's. This route takes us past a group of benign Christian evangelists who pass out roses and tell us that God thinks we are beautiful. (They show up about once a month and I try to work the rose into my hairstyle).

Arriving at Diva's, we head to the fourth floor lounge area. On Fridays, the fourth floor bartending duties are handled by Melanie, a friendly Hawaiian transwoman and meticulous mixologist. There is a pool table and several very comfortable sofas and chairs. The fourth floor becomes our base, although many of us, particularly myself, venture to the third floor dance area.

Those of you who participated in the monthly Bay Area Tranny Chaser expeditions to Diva's will recognize this pattern - The TG contingent claims the fourth floor and the "hard core regulars" hold the first. Everyone can roam at will, naturally, but the unspoken understanding is that the chasers "tone it down" in the penthouse.

The middle ground is the third floor dance area.  The DJ on Friday night is excellent, spinning what I call "Diva Disco" - which I define as relatively fast dance music with a female lead singer. He frequently goes into Latin rhythms, and occasionally, Hip Hop.

Several more of my TG friends drifted in over the evening. Elaine H., Deanna, Zoe, Gia, & Michelle.  It was my best night at Diva's in recent memory - and since I now live 3 blocks away, I have plenty of episodes to compare this with.

When we show up in force, we shift the "smile to shade" ratio favorably, and everyone has a good time.  Steve, the owner, could not be happier to have us.

Eve knows what she is doing and we are off to a good start. I'll be a regular.

Eve Summers moves, regular nights-out planned
I have written about Eve Summers and her transformation service before. I was particularly delighted to recieve this announcement from her today:

First, Adam to Eve Transformations is moving, and second, we're going to be having Friday night get-togethers starting this week!

We have a brand new location and new hours of operations. We are now located on the Polk Street corridor at Polk and Geary, right in the center of a large number of San Francisco's transgender-friendly establishments. That puts us in walking distance of all the nightclubs, bars, shopping and restaurants in the area, with three parking facilities and at least six major motels within a two-block radius. Just like before, the new transformation studio is in a private, discreet, safe and comfortable setting.

New regular hours:
Tuesday evenings - 7:30pm onward
Thursday evenings - 7:30pm onward
Friday evenings - 7:30pm onward
Saturdays and Sundays - all day and evening

The studio is sometimes available on other days and times. Please contact Eve to check on availability. Outcalls can be performed on other days and times. Please contact Eve to schedule an outcall.

Next item: we're going to start having Friday night get-togethers at the new location, starting this Friday night, July 16th, 7:30pm!

You're welcome to either come dressed, or bring your girl clothes and dress up at the studio.

A $5 donation per person is requested, which goes toward the cost of keeping the lights on and refreshements for the following gathering. I'll also be offering discounted makeup application for those girls who want me to do their makeup, but please let me know in advance.

Refreshments will be served, of course.

At a certain designated time, we'll all leave the studio in a group outing to one of the many TG-friendly nightclubs, bars or restaurants along Polk Street. I may leave it to a group vote to decide our destinations each week, but the most logical starting point would be Diva's, which is just around the corner.

Then at the end of the night, we'll all return to the studio for the girls who need to change back, and to wind down.

Sound like fun?

RSVP to Eve at eve@adamtoeve.com or (415) 999-3013 for the location, directions, and more information.
Thanks,
